Where to check your SAT refund status
SAT offers two main ways to verify your refund status:
- SAT Portal → sat.gob.mx → "Mi portal" → "Devoluciones" → "Seguimiento de solicitud"
- Buzón Tributario → Automatic notifications sent when there are updates on your refund
What each refund status means
| Status | Meaning | Action needed |
|---|---|---|
| ✅ Depósito efectuado | Approved and sent to your bank account | Check your bank in 1–3 business days |
| 🔵 En revisión / En proceso | SAT is verifying your request | Wait — calling SAT does not speed it up |
| ⚠️ Requerimiento | SAT is requesting additional documentation | Respond within the stated deadline (usually 20 business days) |
| ❌ Rechazada | Request was not approved for a specific reason | Read the reason, correct the issue and reapply |
| 🔄 Compensada | SAT applied your balance against an existing debt | Verify if you have outstanding debts; clarify if incorrect |
Step-by-step status check
- Go to sat.gob.mx
- Click "Trámites y servicios" → "Devoluciones y compensaciones"
- Select "Seguimiento de devoluciones"
- Log in with RFC + Password or e.firma
- Search by folio number or tax year
If your refund was rejected
A rejection is not final. You can reapply after correcting the issue:
- Read the rejection reason in Buzón Tributario
- Correct the specific error (wrong CLABE, invalid deductions, RFC issues)
- Submit a new refund request
- If you believe the rejection is unjustified, file a "recurso de revocación"
